Apartment living can feel oh so luxurious when you have a clear vision and work to optimize small spaces.  

Focused color, careful proportion and modern style combine to make this Oak Park apartment feel like a sophisticated dream.

The living room boasts stunning views but limited space.  

Working with a 9.5' x 10' area, we chose beautiful, proportioned pieces that provide elegance and comfort.

This client loves to entertain, and opted to make the larger of the living and dining rooms dedicated to formal dining for eight, with more seating at the kitchen island. 

The entryway boldly announces the style of the apartment, with ginkgo leaves as an homage to her hometown of Oak Park, and the mountains to her love of skiing and the outdoors.

This client had always wanted black walls, so we painted specific panels in the entryway and dining space to provide depth and interest, drama and warmth.  

From every angle, the combination of black, ivory and caramel blend together for a sense of calm and sophistication. 

With a one-bedroom bathed in eastern sunlight and boasting gorgeous views of Lake Michigan, our client wanted a "hotel" type of design - simple, clean, modern.

A custom midnight-blue velvet sofa sets the tone for the living area, and the bench seat is ideal for napping. Green and orange accents spark the space to life, and the tufted rug perfectly brings all of the room's elements together.

A blue and silver bathroom align with both the hardware in the unit, and the fun arc motif present throughout the apartment.

A serene bedroom with soft linen sheets and zero distractions create a space for the client to truly relax after a long day at the hospital.

A gorgeous marble base floor lamp and plush custom swivel chair create an irresistible reading space.

An internal bedroom with limited design or natural light is transformed into a grown-up, sophisticated and calming space that reflects this client's personality and passions.

BEFORE: 

A loft bed left space for a sofa and a desk underneath, but no dedicated spaces that catered to her real needs.

AFTER:  With bi-fold closet doors hitting the entry door and taking up space, we designed a curtained Elfa closet on the left, and on the right, a new "cloffice" gives her a dedicated homework area with redesigned lighting, and reclaims additional square footage.

AFTER: An oversized mirror also makes the room look larger, and is positioned for exercising between her sport seasons.

Carefully chosen artwork rounds out the room to reflect her Vancouver Canucks and FC Brentford fandom, and the coordinated earth tones represent her love of the outdoors. 

AFTER: The client wanted dedicated zones for homework, reading for pleasure, and having fun with makeup.  She now has space for all three.

This is her reading area, complete with bookcase, plush swivel chair, martini table and a fabulous arc lamp for more comfortable reading.

AFTER: We replaced and re-positioned the overhead track lighting with a fabulous chandelier that transforms the feel of the room.

Additional wireless sconces beautifully flank the bed for more subtle lighting at bedtime.

A spacious but bland office is fully upgraded with color-drenching, re-purposed furniture, accessorizing, built-in design and new window treatments. 

With this backdrop, video calls now elicit admiration and envy!

AFTER: Hale Navy (Benjamin Moore) on every wall helps to integrate and highlight her blue and white chinoiserie collection

AFTER:  A gallery wall inspires her as she works all day as a creative professional

AFTER: Inviting, chic, warm and fully personalized... she looks forward to "going to the office" every day

BEFORE: 

Dated and mismatched, we knew this would have to come down to the studs to bring it into the 2020's

AFTER: 

Black and white, crisp and clean, completely new.  The only surviving elements were the gorgeous stained glass windows.

AFTER:  Minimal yet elegant and modern.  Appropriate for family and guests.

AFTER: With four lighting options and heated floors, it's the perfect bathroom for both morning routine and evening relaxation.
